Privacy Policy
Sol Glow ("we", "us") helps you plan time in the sun based on your skin and live UV. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal data.
Information we collect
- Account & sign-in. Your email address and a sign-in identifier when you create an account or use Sign in with Apple or Google. Authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito.
- Sun & skin profile. The answers you provide during onboarding and in settings — skin tone/type, how you burn and tan, photosensitivity (e.g. sun-sensitizing medication), usual SPF and application, tanning goals, and reminder preferences.
- Location. With your permission, your approximate or precise location, used to fetch the live UV index and weather for your sessions. You can use a manually entered location instead, and you can turn location off at any time in Settings.
- Sessions. Your logged tanning sessions, durations, and outcomes, which the app uses to tune future plans.
- Social features. If you use them: friend connections, group/"beach day" activity, and referral codes you create or redeem.
- Photos (optional). Progress photos you choose to add. These are stored privately and are not shared unless you share them.
- Notifications. A push notification token so we can send the reminders you enable (flip, reapply, hydrate).
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, via RevenueCat and the App Store. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
- Diagnostics. Limited crash and error reports to keep the app stable.
How we use your information
- To calculate sun-exposure plans, timers, and reminders tailored to your skin and local UV.
- To provide account, social, and subscription features you choose to use.
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability and safety.
Third-party services
We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the app:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, database, and authentication.
- Open-Meteo — UV and weather lookups (your location coordinates are sent to retrieve the forecast).
- RevenueCat and the Apple App Store — subscription management and billing.
- Apple / Google — only if you use their sign-in.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications.
- Sentry — crash/error diagnostics (when enabled).
Data retention & your choices
- Access & export. You can export your data from within the app.
- Deletion. You can permanently delete your account and associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile, sessions, products, friends, widget settings, and sign-in account.
- We retain data while your account is active and delete it after account deletion, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal or financial obligations.
Security
Authentication tokens are stored in the device's secure storage, and data in transit is encrypted over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
Sol Glow is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Support
For help or questions, visit getsolglow.com. You can manage, export, or delete your data at any time inside the app.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
